What's the X-Cart Upgrade Service?

The X-cart upgrade service is aimed at assisting you to update the X-cart version up to the higher minor release (e.g. from X-cart v4.7.0 to X-cart v4.7.x) or major release (upgrading between branches, e.g. from X-cart v4.1.x to X-cart v4.7.x)

Upgrading the X-cart version up to the higher minor release (e.g. from X-cart v4.6.2 to X-cart v4.6.3 or from X-cart v4.7.11 to X-cart v4.7.12): from $150 (accurate price after software upgrade estimation)

Upgrading the X-cart version up to the higher major release (upgrading between branches, e.g. from X-cart v4.1.x to X-cart v4.7.x) is provided as follows:
1. We get a request for the xcart upgrade estimation
2. Upgrade Dept. specialist engineer examines the store and estimates the xcart upgrade
3. Upon the service confirmation we schedule the works (all works are performed on our local servers)
4. Upgrade Dept. engineer performs the xcart upgrade.
5. The customer checks the results
6. Upon a confirmation from the customer the Upgrade Dept. engineer uploads the upgraded store to the production server (the data synchronization is performed during this upload)

What's new in X-Cart Gold 4.7.0:

Design and appearance

• New "Light Responsive" skin
  A new responsive and mobile ready skin - Light Responsive - has been added into all the packages of X-Cart Classic.
• Improved Checkout Workflow
  On the checkout page the "Continue" button which used to be under the column with the buyer's personal info has been removed.

Payments

• In-context Checkout by PayPal
  Evolved from the well-known "Express Checkout", PayPal's "In-context Checkout" is a new feature aimed at simplifying the checkout flow for your customers. With this feature the number of clicks for the buyer is decreased to 2 (or 3, if the buyer is not logged in to their PayPal account). A user is NOT taken to the PayPal site to complete the transaction — it all happens right on your website. Moreover, right on the page the customer is viewing, as it opens a minibrowser above that very page. If the transaction is successful, the customer is provided with an order confirmation; otherwise the customer is redirected to a regular checkout page so they can try again.

Modules

• A new module: Custom order statuses
  The new module is available within the packages "GoldPlus" and "Platinum". It enables the store administrator to create custom order statuses. To add a new one, go to "Settings" - >"Order statuses".
• A major revision of AOM
  • Payment method surcharge has become editable.
  • The shipping method name can now be modified, too.
  • Module re-factoring related to profile fields, taxes, discounts and other features.
  • The second address line (Address Line 2) could not be removed. It has been fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances the calculation of discounts and taxes was incorrect. Has been fixed, too.
  • Email validation on the edit customer information page has been added.
  • More fixes and improvements.

Other

• Smarty update
  X-Cart 4.7.0 is not compatible with Smarty2 and requires Smarty3 for its operation.

What's new in X-Cart Gold 4.5:

Design and appearance

• UTF-8 is now supported out of the box. UTF-8 allows information from any language to be stored in the database in a single encoded character set, which means you can have both Latin (like English, French, German) and non-Latin (like Greek, Chinese, Japanese) languages in your store at the same time. This not only makes the creation of multilingual stores easier, but eliminates the architectural problem of earlier Xcart versions where using incompatible character sets in one store could cause problems in the store operation (namely, data search and data sorting).
• Two new built-in skins have been added: 'Ideal Comfort' and 'Books & Magazine'
• New demo products and related data are now available.
• Some unused CSS classes and obsolete language labels have been removed.

Shipping & payments

• All background/on-site/merchant hosted credit card payment methods have been removed due to PCI DSS requirements. You can still use them via X-Payments software.
• Subscriptions module has been removed completely for PCI DSS compliance.
• The following payment gateway integrations have been updated: PSiGate, DIBS (cc_dibs.php), Authorize.Net SIM, Paypal, Checkout by Amazon, ProxyPay3.
• USPS module has been completely revised and updated to meet the latest USPS APIs requirements. USPS shipping methods have been updated. Weight limits have been corrected for the USPS First Class methods. Now Xcart can more accurately split orders into multiple packages according to the USPS package size and weight limitations.

Taxes

• TaxCloud module integration has been implemented for better and more accurate tax calculation.

Security

• Protection from SQL injection attacks has been improved.
• A bundle of CA Root Certificates have been updated.

Performance optimization

• Multi-language stores: International product descriptions are now stored in separate tables.

• Socialize module has been updated - Pinterest is now available.

What's new in X-Cart Gold 4.4:

• Admin area. X-Cart admin area looks completely different now, navigating it became easier.
• There’s seven Add-On Modules that have now been included in the default source code for Xcart; X-Affiliate, X-Configurator, X-FeatureComparison, X-GiftRegistry, X-SpecialOffers, X-Magnifier and X-Survey.
• One page checkout. There are now two checkout options - Fast Lane Checkout or One page AJAX checkout.
